A Dose of St. Maarten

For my 30th birthday, I wanted to step into this new decade with intention. Not with a packed itinerary or a party, but with presence, peace, and the people who know me best. So I grabbed my sister and best friend, and we headed to St. Maarten, a place that instantly felt like a dream. From our slow mornings on the balcony to sunset conversations that made us laugh until our stomachs hurt, this trip was exactly what I needed to reflect, reset, and welcome this next chapter with a full heart.

This trip felt different. Not just because it was a milestone, but because I’ve changed. I’m slower with my mornings, softer with myself, and more in tune with what I need to feel full. St. Maarten gave me the space to embrace that, and to step into this new decade with grace, gratitude, and a whole lot of glow.

Where We Stayed

We booked a stunning ocean view Airbnb in Little Bay, close to the beach and local restaurants. I knew for this trip I wanted to be very intentional about where I stayed, so an ocean view was an absolute must! I always choose Airbnb over hotels because I want to live in places I visit, not just check in and out.

Waking up to the most breathtaking view, journaling on the balcony, and heading out with no hard plans, that’s my kind of luxury.

Each day felt like a gentle reminder to just be—to savor my food, soak in the sun, and sit still long enough to hear my own thoughts. The beauty of St. Maarten wasn’t just in its crystal-clear water or palm-lined beaches, it was in the energy. The people. The rhythm of the island that felt aligned with exactly where I’m at in life: rooted, radiant, and ready for what’s next.

What We Did

We moved how we felt—slowly and intentionally. We spent our days exploring the island, chasing the sun, and saying yesto what felt good.

  • Rum & Reggae Beach Club was a whole experience—jet skiing over clear waters with music in the background and toes in the sand. Pure freedom.

  • A Day Trip to St. Barth’s added a little luxury to the mix.

  • The Art Box Gallery spoke to my creative side. This hidden gem on the island showcases local artists and gave me the chance to bring a piece of the island’s soul home with me.

Final Thoughts

This trip was the confirmation I needed that soft doesn’t mean small. That rest is revolutionary. That peace is productive. And that it’s okay to slow down, check in with yourself, and protect your joy.

Turning 30 in St. Maarten wasn’t just a vacation. It was a declaration. A quiet but powerful shift into womanhood that honors all of who I am—creative, curious, bold, and becoming.

Here’s to this next decade being full of softness, sunsets, and showing up for myself in the most intentional ways.

Until the next passport stamp,

Jas
